Message From Theresa and David

"Words cannot express how grateful we are for all the support, love and words of encouragement from everyone around the world for Kathi. Each day as she gets stronger is a testament to the power of prayer and God's healing hands.

We are forever grateful to everyone at Lakeside Church who have welcomed Dave and I into their family. We would also like to thank First Baptist Church of Elk Grove and all of Kathi's friends who have gathered around to lend prayers and support.

Finally, to the Trauma Department at Sutter Roseville -- YOU ROCK!! The doctors and nurses do incredible work and we are so thankful . . . Kathi is in the best hands."
Theresa and David Huff
Kathi's sister and brother-in-law

Today was a good day. Kathi was reported by her nurse to be using her fingers in a deliberate way. Theresa watched as Kathi opened her right eye and seemed to follow her movements. Also, she squeezed the hands of some others. While I was holding her hand, she caressed the top of my hand with her thumb. Then she opened her right eye again.

Once again, we need to remember that she is still in a coma, on a ventilator and has a very severe brain injury and we still just don't what is going to happen. But . . . don't you just want to do a "happy dance?"

Areas of concern continue to be the fever she has and the potential of developing pneumonia. Other vital signs are all stable and holding. Thank you for continuing to hold Kathi up in prayer.

It was good to see Kathi's "Bodacious Babes" bicycling group at Lakeside this morning. It was very encouraging to her family. What a precious time of worship we shared together!

Update on Kathy Hurd

Gary Hurd shared today that Kathy is in good spirits and should begin physical therapy sometime this week. Pray for her in regards to pain control and appetite.

Praise HIM for both of our Kathi(y)'s!!!! We are still on our knees and I feel like I have been learning in a greater meaning what it means to "pray without ceasing." I feel like every other thought is for them and I am thankful for these updates!
Psalm 5:6-8
"Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety."
Amen!!!

You don't me, but I heard about your accident from my sister who was one of the first on the scene. I will keep prayer for Kathi and family and will submit prayer to my church here in Livermore. With God, all things are possible. May He place His healing hands on your body and make you well.

I am praying for you and your family everyday. The service this morning was so amazing. This week I was reading in Psalms and came across this verse that I want to hide in my heart. I pray this verse will be a comfort to all who read it.
Psalm 33:13&14 The Lord looks from heaven; he sees all the sons of men; from his dwelling place he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth.

What else could we ask for but to be looked upon in our time of need.
My prayers will continue to go out to all involved in Kathi's recovery.

My sympathies goes out to the victims of the accident. From one biker to another. It is ironic to me because not far from the accident (on the corner of Rolph and Powers, near Wilson bvld.) I also got struck by a car. It was about the same time Kathi and Katherine got into the accident. This made me realize how lucky i've been and how much life is fragile. I've been reading up on some of Kathi's history and she has helped a lot of people and that people like her are not worth losing now. I hope she recovers well and is brought back into the community.

Dear Kathy Hurd,

I met you last year while our boys were on the same baseball team. My son is Ben Hunt. I just saw you and Kathy riding your bikes on Tuesday. I was running while my three kids were riding their bikes. I cannot believe this happened. I hope you get better soon. I have been thinking about you and your family a lot.

Take Care,
Suzanne

My family came from Florida to visit friends and ministry partners in California, and Kathi was on our list to see while we were here. She and I were roommates in San Bernardino. We were shocked and saddened to hear of her terrible accident and immediately gathered to pray for her and will continue to do so. It will be a hole in our schedules to not have Kathi to see next Wednesday, but we will be praying for her and her friend, "the other Kathy," on that day. I have posted the link to the blog on my Facebook page, so my friends are praying for her too! Many blessings on all who can be there for her while we have to be far away.

Take Care

I was listening to one of Copeland's classic songs today. Though It may not have been Aaron's intention to write a song about God's provision in our darkest. I appreciate this song and I see God all over the place in this. I seem to operate sometimes in belief + doubt, believing because I know God to be true, but doubting that anything will come of certain prayers and certain circumstance. But still I continue to believe even when it doesn't make sense. Anyways, I wonder what this song means to you?

Bryce

I'll take care of you oh
Have faith that when you call my name
I'll be there

It was a straight faced lie
I believed
It was a straight faced lie
You would ever leave me
But for now I'll keep believing your words
And soon enough my strength will return

I'll take care of you oh
Have faith that when you call my name
I'll be there
I'll be right there
So keep breathing oh
Keep that sweet heart of yours beating
I'll be right there
I'll be right there

Let me draw the blinds for you
You can watch the sunset from
The bed in your hospital room
Until you're sleeping
I'm sure
I don't understand how I found a love so pure

I'll take care of you oh
Have faith that when you call my name
I'll be there
I'll be right there
So keep breathing oh
Keep that sweet heart of yours beating
I'll be right there
I'll be right there

Don't lift a finger
Let me show you
The only way to let this go
Don't lift a finger
Let me hold you
Hold you here until the pain it has all gone

I'll take care of you oh
Have faith that when you call my name
I'll be there
I'll be right there
So keep breathing oh
Keep that sweet heart of yours beating
I'll be right there
I'll be right there

I'll take care of you oh
Have faith that when you call my name
I'll be there
I'll be right there
So keep breathing oh
Keep that sweet heart of yours beating
I'll be right there
I'll be right there
I'll be right there
I'll be right there

Dear Kathy H.,
You don't know my husband and I. We go to Lakeside Church and know Kathi S. well. Since we heard of this horrific accident we have been in pray for both of you. For your complete healing and patience on both of your parts. It sounds to us from the updates that God is working on both of you in powerful ways, and it is hard not to expect to just pick up from where you left off. The extra hard work you must now go through doesn't seem fair, but then again, God is working even in the most difficult of times. Our thoughts and prayers are with you daily, I only hope that you could know all of the prayer warriors out here, praying for your total healing. You are touching many lifes that you are likely unaware of. Continued blessings and healing to you.

with love and prayers, L & J Gamenara
