Cautious Good News!

I want to temper the good news I'm about to share with the reality that Kathi is still very critically ill. But having said that we are greatly encouraged today. Praise God!

This morning we were able to observe Kathi open her eyes. She is not following commands, still in a coma and and still on a ventilator. But the doctor said she is doing things today that cause him to believe she can have a good recovery. He said he watches for four things to begin to happen: 1) Open her eyes 2) Reaching to pull out tubes 3) Following commands 4) Being able to come off the ventilator. So. . .we can check off number 1! He said she is ahead schedule on his expectations. So pray for her to continue hitting these milestones.

Due to the seriousness of her open head wound and the great risk of infection, the doctor asked that we restrict visitors to family only. This is so hard because we know every one's heart's desire is to come see and love her. We expect this restriction to be relaxed in a few weeks. We will let you know when this happens. (Details will come later.)

Thank you and bless you.

Please know your family is deeply covered in prayer in my house. Lakeside has been praying for my newborn, who just went from Sutter Roseville to Sutter Memorial downtown and finally home last week. I too have family in Seattle...your circumstances touch my heart with familiarity. I live in Roseville...just up the street from the hospital...if there is anything I can do-bring family food...watch kids for visitors...offer up my spare room if someone needs a place to stay close by...please let me give back the blessings that were poured on me in my time of need! Much love and constant prayers!

Kathi-I was just driving in my car during crazy campaign time and heard on KFBK about a woman with your name who had been hit...I called Lakeside, expecting to hear, "nope, not our Kathi"...but then she sent me to the website, and I cried. Kathi, God Loves You. His arms are wrapped so tightly around you, and he's there, right there with you. I love you and I'm praying so hard I can't think straight. I love you. God Bless You and keep you and bring you back. XOXOXOXO.

My sister and I met Kathi when she was head of of Women's Ministries at First Baptist Church in Elk Grove. She travelled with us and and three other women on a four-day cruise to Mexico six years ago. We will keep her in our prayers, and praise God for the progress she is making daily.

God's speed, Kathi.

With so many blessing, prayers, friends and God I know that Kathi will come back even stronger. To Dave and Teresa, thank you for today, I pray for you that you are kept healthy and strong as you continue to stay with Kathi and send her strength. Kathi is so strong in my heart and my prayers seem so little, but God is watching over all of you and I will not stop praying until I hear her sweet voice again soon.

Kathy has become a dear friend to our family. We have been lucky enough to have her company at many of our Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. We have come to think of her as a "bonus" sister! Kathi, I just want to pray that our Lord Jesus will touch your body with his powerful hands to heal you and comfort you at this time. I also want to pray for your family that the Lord will supply them with strength, wisdom and encourgement during this very stressful time.

I thank our healer and Lord, Jesus, that Kathi was able to open her eyes today!

I just finished reading a book called "Mistaken Identity" about two college girls who were involved in an automobile accident, and how God worked in their families lives. It was a new perspective for me to see the world of trauma wards and what the road to recovery really looks like. I say all that to say to Kathi's family that I can't imagine how difficult it is for you right now to see your beloved sister in such a difficult place.

God Bless You as you walk this road together with Him.

Dear God
May Kathi sense your presence in her mind, and body and spirit. We thank you already for a small sign of your healing power, may it continue till we see Kathi restored to full health. In her weakness, may she know YOUR strength. Surround her with peace and love. May her family and friends around her know the same. We commit her to your care, because we know just how much you do care. We pray in Jesus name. Amen

I have to admit that I struggled God was still in control when I first heard about the accident.I had to remind myself of His promises and how I have seen His faithfulness in the past. I know that He has a kingdom purpose and I am sure that people who know Christ and people who do not can't help but be touched by this story. Thank you for the encouraging news! That is AWESOME!

We are so grateful for the updates and the phone calls keeping us updated on Kathi's condition. Thank you Bryan and Vickie. . . . .it's so difficult for us to be so far away and without cell or internet at this very difficult time. Kathi. . . . we love you, we are ALL praying for you constantly. I just keep remembering your gentle spirit, your undeniable faith and the way you really LOVE all of those in your life. . . it has given me a peace that is sustaining us. Here in Montana we are reminded daily of the awesome power of our God. . . he is so much bigger than anything we can even fathom. . . but you Kathi already know that and remind us of that daily. We are also praying for Teresa and Dave. . . . I hope you both know how very much Kathi loves you and that she speaks so lovingly of you both often. (And of course, Emma and Cody too.) Kathi . . . .we are praying for you, for your doctors, your sister and brother-in-law and for all of our Lakeside family. We love you!
