"Hi!"

OK - so let's not use the word "coma" anymore. I'm just going to tell you what I saw when I entered her room today. BOTH of Kathi's eyes were open and she looked right at me. I asked her to turn her head to look at her other caregiver. She did! Then she turned her head and looked back at me . . . see a pattern here? She was awake most of the time I spent with her - a little restless. I could tell she was tired so I encouraged her to sleep/rest. She fell asleep for a short while, then her eyes popped open. I looked at her and said "Hi!" and she tried to say "Hi" around her breathing tube.

I am so excited at the healing I see taking place. Her fever was down almost a whole degree, and you could see color in her face again. She played with my hand for almost three hours. Sometimes she doesn't follow commands - not sure if she is tired or just being "difficult!" But I'll give her a little grace on that.

Another "milestone" is approaching - Kathi is initiating most of her respirations during waking hours. When she falls asleep, the ventilator takes over. (Breathing machine) This is very significant and we can't wait to see further improvement so that we can say "bye-bye" to that breathing tube!

Unfortunately, Physical Therapy did not happen today, but she is first on their list to get up in a chair tomorrow morning. Her nurse said that she will only be up for about an hour. AN HOUR? Wow! That's a long time if you've been in a "coma" for a week.

Anyway, just want to give you all the latest and greatest of what is happening with Kathi inside the NTICU. Once again the nurses and doctors are singing her praises!

Remembering where we were exactly one week ago today, I personally want to go on record as saying that Kathi is a miracle in action. To God be all the glory!

Thank you God!! Since I became a Christian I've known God is omnipresent and even sometimes I really feel His presents, but to see his works always keeps me in awe of him.
I don't like the fact that Kathi had to go through this. I just hope that maybe through all the miracles, prayers and support the nurses, doctors and all others involved have seen that it may change someone's heart about God and that Kathi may be a witness for someone. Maybe even someone reading these blogs : )

Thank you God for your awesome healing powers !

We'll continue to pray for this wonderful road to recovery for the Kathi(y)'s

Believing, loving, praising and blessing you, your doctors and your familiy on this most glorious day.

What a way to end my day - knowing that you are on the road to recovery - I could not be happier for you. To say that God is awesome seems to little sometimes -but, for now, it will have to suffice. Take care and sleep well, for tomorrow is another step back to all who miss and love you.
God bless you and keep you safe my dear friend, glad to have you back!

This morning while driving to the hospital I was speaking with a dear friend of mine about the events of the last week, and praying about what today would bring. Well, today was an amazing day. My big girl is walking!!! And I am dancing.

The Rolling Hills, Lakeside, Oak Hills, and local community has been supportive beyond our wildest imagination. Our God has revealed Himself to us in so many ways this week it has me on my knees in wonder.

Just know that we feel your prayers, we feel God's hands at work, and would cherish the opportunity to share the miracles we have experienced so that you may be encouraged in the challenges that we all face every day.

I give all of the glory to God!

Yes, yes, and yes! Both Kathi and Kathy are testimony to the miraculous work of our Almighty God! What an awesome update. This truly is the day the Lord has made! Ladies, you are so precious and loved by Jesus, and for His glory, we await your smiles, tears, and praises! Our God is an awesome God! He reigns! Father, God, we praise you and worship you! Your holiness is beyond our understanding and we just ask Father for your strength and comfort to fill Kathi and Kathy as they take these next steps in their physical therapy. May the power of your Holy Spirit within them glide each of them through! Kathy's husband ~ I rejoice with you ~ To see your sweet bride walking after what she endured...And yes, we must shout it from the roof tops and tell them the Good News! "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" This morning I had tears of joy as I read the update about Kathi's progress on Wednesday. Every morning before I start work, I look for her updates. I have made it part of my favorites so I can go right to it. The updates let me know how to pray for her. Praise be to God for the things He has done for her. I was one of Kathi's assistants when she worked in Chicago at NAB. I have included Kathi in my devotions since the accident and my evening prayers. And every time she comes to mine, I whisper a prayer for her. I won't stop praying, but right now I can't stop praising God! To her brother and sister and church family be encouraged. Blessings! I'm praising God right now for all the progress Kathi is making day by day! I have been keeping Kathi and her family in prayer daily; whenever Kathi comes into my mind, which is usually several times a day!

Though I don't know Kathi really well, she counseled me through a difficult time last summer, praying with me over my situation. She is a lovely godly woman who has touched my life and I know that God is going to heal her and continue to do great things through her.

Every new blog post brings tears to my eyes as we see the power of prayer and God's healing touch in action.

Thank you, Lord, for all that you are doing in this situation with both Kathi and Kathy!

While I don't personally know Kathi or Kathy, as a fellow bicycle rider and Christian I feel connected to them. I pray daily for continued improvement and eventually a full recovery. God moves in mysterious ways and while we cannot understand everything that happens, we can trust that it happens as part of his overall plan for us.

Thank you for the daily updates. I am distributing this site to many of my friends around the country so the prayer chain can continue to grow for these women.

We are witnessing first hand the power of our God at work. He is indeed a Mighty God! He is not only hearing our prayers but He is answering them in an amazing way. I am encouraged by the incredible work God is doing, not only in the lives of our injured friends, but in the lives of those praying and caring for them. I am in Awe of our God and He alone is worthy of our praise and worship. Hang in there Kathi! Tina and I, along with our extended family of believers across the country are continually praying for your complete recovery.

In His grasp,

Thank you so much for these wonderful updates. It truly allows us to feel close to Kathi and her caregivers. You’re an earthly angel to take this much time and effort daily to keep us all informed so diligently, and we all appreciate it very much.

I have spent many days and nights in ICU units and lots of time with folks with sever head trauma and surgically necessary procedures. It is all a tough waiting game, and usually much slower progress than what Kathi is making, so we are so pleased at God’s abundant blessings right now. We know too that setbacks will come, and we are prepared to help pray Kathi through each one. Though the road may get rocky along the way, Kathi should know that we, her church family will be there, getting as many rocks out of her way as possible, right down to the pebbles. With everyone pitching in offering help, it is our prayer that the road back to health will be paved with assistance in the most practical and tangible ways.

I’m coming with my close friend on Friday, with lunch for the prayer team, and hope to be able to pray with them for Kathi while we are there.

We also wanted to thank Gary for his updates on his precious wife Kathy. We are so pleased to see her continued progress. I am relatively sure that I can imagine the kind of pain she must be in with the extent of her injuries, and knowing that there is little they can do to immobilize her injuries while the bones heal. Gary please know that there are so many of us praying her through the pain and struggle of getting up to walk. Praise God for his healing of our earthly bodies. Truly it is a miracle the way in which the human body heals from these horrible traumas. All praise be to God for his magnificent grace and love to us. We hope, Gary that someday soon you and Kathy will be able to share with us all, the many ways that God has been revealing himself to you and to others through this accident.

Great is the Lord, He is worthy of praise ... how my heart is soaring with each new post! Kathi, this journey has allowed each of us to experience unspeakable sorrow and then incomprehensible joy as we walk through the days together. As always, God has a purpose in all that He allows and our eyes are on Him and we wait for His perfect timing ... what better place could there be?

I keep singing this song in my mind as I think of the 2 of you:

In His time, in His time
He makes all things beautiful
in His time
Lord, please show me everyday
As You're teaching me Your way
That You do just what You say
in Your time

In Your time, in Your time
You make all things beautiful
in Your time
Lord, my life to You I bring
May each song I have to sing
Be to You a lovely thing
in Your time

Reflecting on the heart of God puts all things back into the proper perspective.

Because of Jesus,
love and gentle hugs to you,
Pam Hembree

p.s. thanks Kathy's Husband for the new reason to rejoice ... still praying!

I am amazed, thrilled, stunned, awestruck, bewildered, relieved, exhausted, bawling...God is so awesome and so amazing, it is overwhelming. And He continues to wrap His arms tightly around you and He protects you...and he's guiding you through every step of this...oh, Thank God Almighty. Thank you God...thank you God. Kath, I'm afraid when I see you again, I'm going to throw myself on you and throw you directly out of bed. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you in this fragile state!!!! :-) Praise GOD!!!!!
