A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

I thought I would just send out a picture of Kathi after she enjoyed lunch today. She has been upgraded to eating with three other people along with a monitor. Good improvement! It was so exciting to see her sitting and holding up her own head - because the last time I saw her sit up, she could not hold up her head.
I was on a mission to deliver some clothes today, but was pleasantly surprised to be able to talk to one of her therapists. She wanted to give us all praise for putting Kathi's therapy ahead of our need to be present. She also said that Kathi was working "like a dog!" Right after taking this picture, Kathi insisted that I take one of the two of us.

She looked at me today and said "This body   -   it just won't do what I want it to." That was a very coherent statement. It will soon, Kathi, it will soon . . .

Way to go K4!! So, not only does the flesh not cooperate with the Spirit, but your body won't cooperate with your will! Doubly frustrating. My prayer will be for you to be tenacious in rehab and that God will pour out his strength into you!

YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL!!!
What a site for sore eyes. To see you sitting up in a chair and eating, and hearing all the hard work you are doing is music to my ears and eyes.
God had blessed his strength and love over you and I know that will continue as you approach the weeks and months ahead.
I really miss seeing you and cannot wait to see you again when you are ready for visitors.
So many prayers and love are flowing your way and I continue to pray that God will begin to set you down gently as you begin to march on your own two feet while keeping steady.
much love,
Johanna

In response to the requests for an update regarding Kathy Hurd's condition, I'm thrilled to tell you that her progress is amazing! She is still troubled by aching pain in her back when she stretches out her pain medicine, sharp pain in her shoulder regardless of what she does, and constant dizziness. However, she is mobile (praise God!) and now faced with a new problem. She is going stir crazy!

Like Kathi, her mind is focusing on all of the tasks at hand. However, her body is not allowing her to accomplish them. Unlike Kathi, she is completely cognoscente of the events that caused this situation. Thanks to all of the dear friends who have visited her recently. The time you have devoted to Kathy means the world to her.

And finally, Susan S., your comments really touched me. I am 100% confident that God will use this event to show His glory. Our families greatest prayer is that more will come to know Him through all of our actions.

God bless!

Hi Kathi,

My name is Eric Nichols and was referred to your blog by Patti Atwood. I also see Lori Scheel's name whom I had the pleasure to meet when I managed the Folsom Chipotle...Let me congratulate you on having God's favor for your recovery. My son is Sgt Sam Nichols of the United States Marines. He suffered a TBI in Iraq when his Humvee was hit by an IED. The medical community gave us no hope for survival, let alone recovery. God had other ideas for Sam and Erin (his wife). Sam's family began to stand on God's promises for healing in scripture and over the past year (July 24th) we have seen many miracles performed on Sam's behalf. If anyone would like to visit Sam's blog...( tneria01.wordpress.com ) Please remember this Kathi: "For all the promises of God find their yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory." 2 Cor 1:20
I will be praying and believing for your total restoration right along with Sam's. God Bless you!

Eric

As the Holy Spirit speaks to me through this little computer filled with inspirational words, pictures, and music, the things I hear and feel the strongest are gratitude and humility.

My devotions started with praying for the soldiers serving in Iraq. Then I realized we, as children of God, are all soldiers, fighting for His kingdom. Each victory brings glory to God. This battle..this war..you will win through Christ, and for His glory! As painful and frustrating it is for both you and Kathy, your courage to face the next challenge, and the strength you need to succeed, is all unfolding right before our eyes.

You are always in my thoughts and prayers, my fellow Warrior for Christ.

Awesome pic by the way..Blessed Blogger!

Ephesians 3:16 (NIV)
I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.

May God strengthen your inner being and your physical being.

Hang in there, you are doing an awesome job and you are an inspiration to many, many people...
