First Week Home!

Well, it's been a week and a day since Kathi came home from the hospital. Being in a quiet environment, especially at night, has helped Kathi sleep better, and therefore, have more energy. We have tried taking short walks outside until the heat drove us back inside. Her ability to walk and have good balance is getting better everyday. We hope to get the out-patient therapy locked in by next week, and we are still waiting to hear about the insurance decision on the Bakersfield Rehab facility.
Yesterday her sister, Theresa, and niece, Emma, took her out to lunch (first time out for a meal!) and then we drove to Lakeside to pickup some paperwork, and Kathi had the opportunity to see some of her co-workers. What a treat to see her eyes light up as she walked into the office and saw familiar faces. Then we came home and took a nap!
Theresa and Emma flew back to Seattle last night, so Kathi said her good-byes. It makes her a little sad to see them go, but Theresa will be back in a month or so.
Please continue to pray for healing of her mind - thinking, memory and reasoning. Also pray for continued stamina and strength. And praise God for the miraculous healing we have seen!

What a great update to read! Such a blessing for her to be in a loving, peaceful home and able to have this visit with her family! We've been praying for you (host family) also and that the Lord would just surround you and your family and house! Kathi, you are such a blessing and a miracle and we give God the glory for working in your life. Still praying for therapy and the outpatient facility also!!!

In every thought and prayer, so happy things continue to improve for you!

Just waiting for that day we walk into Lakeside and see you for ourselves!

Keep up all the hard work and we will keep praying!

Two and a half months has flown by for so many, but not as I stop and read all these postings from day one of this season in your life. I think of how quickly this amount of time went by for my daughter, as she watched the end of summer close in. It is very different in your shoes, as the time for healing, restoration, and renewal must take its toll.

I am praying for a swift, miraculous healing of your mind and for the Lord's provision of your rehab facilities to come as easily as His grace has come to you all along.

"It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me." Daniel 4:2

I trust your story will continue to bring glory to our Lord; Healer, Deliverer, Comforter, Father, and Friend. You will be restored my dear sister, in His name, I believe.

Thanks for the great update. I knew that she would thrive just getting into a more normal environment. I am so grateful to our Father for this miraculous healing of our dear sister. I can't wait to see for myself her bright and shining smile. I am so grateful for caretakers and people to love on Kathi as you have done. Thanks! Give her a big hug.
To God be the glory!
Love you!

Yeah this is a wonderful update, and one I must admit I wasn't sure we'd see. How wonderful and joyful to see where you are today my friend. And what a blessing for you to have such a wonderful home to rest and grow strong in. God just shows me in so many wonderful ways how awesome He is and this is by far the best yet! I love you Kathi and can't wait to see your smiling face in person. Thanks for the updates. What's going on with Kathy Hurd?
Love and blessings,

Emma is so big! And so cute, too. Remember that picture of her when she was a toddler cringing away from their new puppy? That's how I remember Emma (and the comment she made about all the pretty flowers on their lawn). Time seems to pass so quickly and yet so slowly in situations such as yours where healing takes its time. But as my prayers go up to heaven on your behalf, I know that I am not alone in this effort of complete restoration for you. What a testimony to God's faithfulness and your character in the lives you have touched!

As you've asked about Kathy, I'm thrilled to be able to tell you that she's making remarkable progress. And, God willing, she'll be back on a bike within a couple of months!
