Words from Ms. Kathi Sturgeon - herself!

Hi family and friends!
I know you haven't heard from us in a little while, so here is your latest update on Kathi (me). Yes folks, I'm doing my own blog today.

It has been two weeks since being released from the hospital! Though I was treated well there, it sure was nice to leave. I am very grateful for my friends, Steve and Vickie! They have been taking very good care of me. They have a comfortable home, have encouraged me on this journey, and have fed me some great food. (That is a big "thank you" to many of you who have provided some wonderful meals.)

Even though I am doing quite well, I still have a ways to go on my recovery. I am feeling well physically and my injuries are healing nicely. I am posting a picture from the I.C.U. along with a picture from today. I think it is evidence of God's tremendous power and grace.

Before closing this note, I'd to share of few "thank yous":

First, I would like to thank and praise God for all He has done for me. I continue to hear stories of God's working things for good out of a bad situation. Romans 8:28 has been very evident. God has been healing me; He has been providing for me in a variety of areas,  He has been working in other people's lives, and He has been filling my mind and heart with peace.

Next I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and other medical staff at Sutter Roseville TNICU and Mercy Hospital Rehabilitation Center for the incredible job they did while I was with them. And not just with me, but it was interesting to watch them care for the other patients on our floor.

I would like to thank you for your prayers (God has been answering them!) Also for your words of encouragement and support. The emails, letters, and calls I have received had been tremendously encouraging. And there was more than once when the words were received by me at just the right time -- right when I needed them!

I would like to thank my sister, Theresa, and my brother, Jack. They have been a huge help, even though they live Washington state. They have been incredibly supportive in so many ways.
I love them so much! And my niece, Emma, was able to come down with Theresa and it was great to have her here, too.

Others that have been doing some great things: Steve and Vickie for their hospitality, care, taking care of me and their support. It has been huge!

Thanks Debby for all you have done for me and my family! Your words of encouragement and acts of kindness have meant so much.

Thanks Veo for taking care of Spike (my cat) and checking on my place.

Thanks to the staff at Lakeside Church (my place of employment) for all that you have done for me!

I know I'm probably forgetting someone, so please forgive me. But I'll just blame it tonight on the traumatic brain injury and thank you in another email.

God has reinforced to me during these couple of months that life is not to be lived alone. We really do need others (sometimes it is more evident then at other times.) Thank each of you for being a part of my life.

I love you all and will check back in next week.
~ Kathi

Kathi,
What a blessing to read this morning! Just the entry alone is a huge testimony to the amazing power of God! As much as we don't like seeing you injured (the picture) it is such an obvious miracle that it makes me want to sing for joy!!!
Keep up the hard work and we will continue praying as always!

There is no greater blessing today for me than to see all that God has done and to see your smiling face. Something I never shared with you prior to your accident was how much I look to you as a mentor in my own journey. Your accident and journey back has been amazing. To see how much God loves you, to see how many people came together and to be able to be even a small part of it was a testiment to the power of God and the blessing he bestows on us.

You said that the messages you have received came at the right time - well, to see this message from you directly was just what I needed to see. Your face, smile and strength shine through and I can't wait to work with you again - you know, the retreat isn't far away!

Much love my friend, and thank you God for healing your child for us all,
Johanna

Kathi, we have been so grateful for the blog to follow your progress. You have been lifted up continually in prayer and of course that is not ending now.

Hunter also occasionally uses the "brain thing" as his excuse. We frequently had him say to us "brain tumor" whenever he did something goofy. He is doing wonderful now and we believe you will as well. God has touched you in an amazing way.

We love you, and look forward to seeing you again when you can come back "home". Love, Jim and Carolyn

What perfect timing when I read your blog on Sunday morning, and I cried. During this journey with you and reading the blogs I had to stop and ask myself. What if this were you. Do you have the support system this women has? My answer sadly was no! If ever I doubted the power of our Lord or prayer, I don't anymore!

I am determined to get connected more with Lakeside, and try and touch others lives as you have Kathi, you are toally an inspiration to me!

Your sister in Christ!

Dear Kathi,

I have shown your blog to several of my friends and family members. I wanted to show them the miracle of healing that God has given to you; and the testimony of His love that He has shown to you through this valley you are traveling through.

I have told many of them that every time I saw you, you ALWAYS had that beautiful smile on your face, and what a joy it was to see. But to see that smile now brings even greater joy to my heart... Praise God for what He has done in your life!

I don't know with the trauma of the accident if you remember me, but know that I have kept you in my daily thoughts and prayers. You are a miracle for all of us to witness. And you are truly amazing!!

Many, many blessings to you dear one!!

In Christ,
Patty Rice

Glory be to God!! Writing your own blog! Girl, you are a mighty warrior and it is an honor to call you sister and pray for you. All of the team at Powerhouse Ministries have held you in prayer. I told someone last week about the strange peace I had about your recovery. From the day you were flown to the hospital, the Lord spoke His peace to my heart, assuring me you would be just fine.....in His hands, in His comforting and loving arms, as you moved through this journey of healing and restoration to your body. I've never experienced His peace in this way before. I mentioned in a previous post that I envisioned you standing before the congregation, giving Glory to God as you told your story. I pray that I will not miss that moment! You are so loved and continue to bless so many Kathi..through all of this. The numbers are immeasurable.

Peace, Mercy & Grace to you always ~

Kathi,

So many scripture verses spoke to us over the last month of his great and abundant love for us and about how he cares about us more than anything. He is evident in your healing. Praise be his name.

If it seems as if we too dropped off the face of the earth lately, it is because we too have had some hospitalization in our family, and priorities had to be made just how much could be done, and for whom. God continues through it all to remain faithful to us, and to strengthen his people with his mighty power and spirit. May he continue to bless your progress and strengthen you.

We are so happy that you can pick up the blog diary and carry on by yourself. Continue to press forward toward the goal and we just know that you will succeed in a glorifying and effective way.

Love, blessings and prayers for you,
Jim and Lynnette

Kathi-

I was thrilled to catch-up on your good news!!! We have been taking advantage of our summer vacation and just got back from our annual Strawberry Music Fest. You have been in my thoughts and prayers. God is speaking loudly through you about the wonders of HIS miracles! Your journey is blessing everyone! I can't wait to see you and would love to know when you can have visitors. I was hoping to have your mended biking shorts, but I think there has been a "little" on everyone's plate for this to happen. I'm still unclear about your memories of friends so I hope you know what I'm talking about. I'm ready to explain when we get that minute. It's beyond miraculous to have you writing so well...are you sure you didn't have help?!? So...articulate! Looking forward to the day of seeing your smiling face at Stepping Stones again too! God bless you dear friend! Love, Jenny Whistler & family 985-3449 & C-835-7351 (The Lockdown Brewing Co. crew). :)
